Zschau, Marilyn (1944– )

US soprano. She studied at the Juilliard School, New York, and sang Korngold's Marietta at the Vienna Volksoper (1967). She appeaared in 1971 at the Vienna Staatsoper, as the Composer (Ariadne). From 1978 she sang with the New York City Opera, as Butterfly, Minnie, and Odabella (Attila). In 1985 she made her debut with the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, as Musetta; her debut at La Scala, Milan, was made in 1986, as the Dyer's Wife. Other roles include Salome, Lady Macbeth, Renata (The Fiery Angel), and the Marschallin. In 1993 she appeared at Florence, as the Kostelnička in Jenůfa.
