Zuñi Pueblo

Town in McKinley and Cibola counties, northwest New Mexico population (2000) 6,400. It is situated on the Zuñi River and the Arizona state border, 52 km/32 mi south of Gallup. An agricultural community, the pueblo is noted for its jewellery, pottery, and ceremonial dances.

In 1540 Francisco de Coronado's expedition came here in search of the reputedly golden cities of Cibola.
