Zweibrücken

City in the Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, 40 km/25 mi east of Saarbrücken; population (2005 est) 35,200. Machinery, footwear, and electrical equipment are produced. The former capital of the ancient duchy of Zweibrücken, it has a 15th-century church and some baroque buildings. The city was largely rebuilt after World War II.
