Achillea

Genus of perennial herbs of the Compositae (daisy) family. Achillea millefolium, common milfoil or yarrow, is native to Britain as is A. ptarmica, sneezewort. A. sibirica is a good border flower.

Years ago, the Lummis House in Pasadena, adjacent to the Southwest Museum, used a dwarf yarrow with pinkish flowers, Achillea millefolium `Rosea,' as a lawn substitute.
As an aside, the most powerful effect the gray-leaved achillea can achieve is when it is planted in combination with Aeonium arboreum ``Zwartkop,'' a rosetted succulent plant with a one-of-a-kind dark burgundy color.
The sun plants she favors are lavender, achillea and penstemon.
