Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), the most severe form of acute respiratory failure, is estimated to affect more than 100,000 people in the United States annually and result in death in 40 to 60 percent of the cases.
(NASDAQ:DSCO) announced today it has obtained clearance from the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to initiate a Phase 2 clinical trial with Surfaxin(R) for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
LiquiVent(R), an intrapulmonary "liquid ventilation" agent, is being evaluated in a pivotal Phase 2-3 study in North America and Europe for treatment of acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
