addax

Light-coloured antelope Addax nasomaculatus of the family Bovidae. It lives in North Africa around the Sahara Desert where it exists without drinking on scanty vegetation. It is about 1.1 m/3.5 ft tall at the shoulder, and both sexes have spirally twisted horns. Its hooves are broad, enabling it to move easily on soft sand.
