agribusiness

Commercial farming on an industrial scale, often financed by companies whose main interests lie outside agriculture, for example multinational corporations. Agribusiness farms are mechanized, large, highly structured, and reliant on chemicals.

Many farms now specialize in one particular crop, maximizing yields by extending field sizes and areas under cultivation.
