amadavat

Small singing bird Amandava amandava, of the family Estrildidae, order Passeriformes. It is about 13 cm/5 in long and is found in the Malay Archipelago and throughout the Indian subcontinent. The breeding male is carmine coloured, with the upper parts brownish grey and wings spotted white. At other times the male is brownish olive, like the female.
