amphora

A two-handled narrow-necked storage jar used in the Graeco-Roman world, usually made of clay. There are two main types. The first, with a pointed base, was essentially used as a container for transporting wine, oil, fish sauce, and nuts. Its pointed handle made for easier stacking in the holds of ships. The second type, which had a ring base and could stand upright, was sometimes decorated with figures, and was made in cities such as Athens. They are often found in Etruscan tombs.

The build began and finally ended with a grand looking, albeit small scale, Roman temple complete with amphora, grape lights, interior mural panels and a mosaic table.
The jar found is of the Amphora kind that dates back to the Hellenistic civilisation during which the Greek culture mixed with the Eastern civilisation following Alexander the Great's occupation of many areas of the ancient East.
Very early, rare examples of psykters (dating from the seventh and sixth century BC) were sleeved pottery amphora.
