angina

Severe pain in the chest due to impaired blood supply to the heart muscle because a coronary artery is narrowed. Faintness and difficulty in breathing accompany the pain. Treatment is by drugs such as nitroglycerin and amyl nitrate or bypass surgery.

They also had no signs of abnormal response to exercise such as pallor, cold sweat, or unusual heart rate response (ie, too rapid an increase, failure to increase, or a decrease with exercise) and had no symptoms of overexertion such as anginal response, no dyspnea, no excessive fatigue, no mental confusion or dizziness, and no claudication of the lower extremity.
DRG 127 Congestive Heart Failure CHF frequently is precipitated by an acute anginal attack and if present on admission and treated (such as Lasix or Lanoxin) may be sequenced first.
"Women have a high frequency of anginal pain that's not associated with blockage of the coronary arteries," explains Bowman Gray researcher Tom Clarkson.
