annealingControlled cooling of a material to increase ductility and strength. The process involves first heating a material (usually glass or metal) for a given time at a given temperature, followed by slow cooling. It is a common form of heat treatment. Normalizing is a type of annealing where a metal is heated to a point above its critical temperature before being cooled. This helps to refine the grain. How to thank TFD for its existence? A higher temperature anneal can recover some toughness lost due to high nitrogen and aluminum content. They think the change in seismicity at 670 km is due to phase change, or rearrangement of the slab crystal structure, which might strengthen or relieve stresses in the slab, or anneal cracks. Furthermore, ClusterCarbon([TM]) enables higher dopant activation and extremely abrupt, shallow junctions while extending the application life of conventional anneal processes. |
