Malaria is a serious disease that is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. The parasite that causes malaria, called Plasmodium, is transmitted through the bite of the female Anopheles mosquito. When an infective anopheles mosquito bites a person the malaria parasites are injected into the person with her saliva. |
