anoxaemia

Shortage of oxygen in the blood; insufficient supply of oxygen to the tissues. It may be due to breathing air deficient in oxygen (for instance, at high altitude or where there are noxious fumes), a disease of the lungs, or some disorder in which the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood is impaired.
