antiknock

Substance added to petrol to reduce knock in car engines, caused by premature combusting. It is a mixture of dibromoethane and tetraethyl lead. Its use in leaded petrol has resulted in atmospheric pollution by lead compounds.

A common antiknock compound in gasoline, it has low toxicity and is effective in very low concentrations.
Moreover, these shells can be effective against tanks not only with high antiknock properties with regard to conventional shaped-charge shells but also with "anti-combined" properties.
