Active opposition to racism and sexism; affirmative action or a set of policies, such as ‘equal opportunity’, can be designed to counteract racism and sexism, often on the part of an official body or an institution, such as a school, a business, or a government agency.

Positive discrimination is used in some government programs to give preference to those groups who have been victims of long-term sexual or racial prejudice.
