chemotherapy

Any medical treatment with chemicals. It usually refers to treatment of cancer with cytotoxic and other drugs. The term was coined by the German bacteriologist Paul Ehrlich for the use of synthetic chemicals against infectious diseases.

Tokyo, Japan, July 4, 2006 - (JCN) - Nippon Kayaku has filed an application for its proprietary antitumor agent, Randa Inj.
Consequently, it has become possible to create immune recognition of cancer antigens through immunization and through adoptive transfer of antitumor lymphocytes into a lymphodepleted host.
In a blow against oncologists' hopes that arsenic might serve as a versatile antitumor agent, researchers have found that the 33rd element of the periodic table may actually speed the growth of tumors.
