apparent

In astronomy, describing something as observed rather than as it actually is. The term is used, for example, in apparent magnitude and apparent star place – the observed position which will only yield the mean position given in star catalogues when it has been corrected for the effects of aberration (see aberration of starlight), precession, and nutation.
