Arnica

Genus of the daisy family Compositae, found in cold and temperate climates. A. montana, the common arnica or mountain tobacco, is a perennial herb common in woods in the foothills of the Alps, and contains an acrid resin and a volatile oil. A tincture, formerly much used for contusions, is prepared from all parts of the plant.
