As each of seven standing dancers collapsed sideways and began sculpting flowing shapes to the cascading piano arpeggios composed by Christian Matjias, one (Wendy White Sasser) remained frozen. All is going well, but coming down on an arpeggio I hit a wrong note. Credit the quintet's attention to detail: Mouth harp and banjo offset the caustic lyrics of "I Can't Decide" ("If lies were cats / You'd be a litter") with Appalachian playfulness, while kooky keyboard arpeggios ripple through the funky "Ooh. |
