arteriosclerosis

Hardening of the arteries, with thickening and loss of elasticity. It is associated with smoking, ageing, and a diet high in saturated fats. The term is used loosely as a synonym for atherosclerosis.

Tokyo, Japan, Oct 28, 2005 - (JCNN) - Daiichi Sankyo announced on October 26 that its subsidiary Sankyo has decided to cease its ongoing clinical studies of pactimibe (CS-505), an investigational drug for the treatment of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).
Computed tomography (CT) with contrast obtained prior to the biopsy demonstrated anomalous bilateral retropharyngeal internal carotid arteries and arteriosclerotic changes.
An autopsy showed David Rice, 54, of Lancaster died of arteriosclerotic heart disease, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
