Risk factors for astrocytic glioma and primitive neuroectodermal tumor of the brain in young children: a report from the Children's Cancer Group. A massive proliferation of fibrous astrocytic processes accompanied by reactive microglia (figure 4, A)--many of which displayed a phagocytic role (figure 4, B)--and amyloid bodies occupied regions of the nerves that were characterized by an absence of axons. A third study in the same journal links a pregnant woman's diet to her offspring' subsequent risk of astrocytic glioma, the most common brain tumor in children. |
