atomizerDevice that produces a spray of fine droplets of liquid. A vertical tube connected with a horizontal tube dips into a bottle of liquid, and at one end of the horizontal tube is a nozzle, at the other a rubber bulb. When the bulb is squeezed, air rushes over the top of the vertical tube and out through the nozzle. Following Bernoulli's principle, the pressure at the top of the vertical tube is reduced, allowing the liquid to rise. The air stream picks up the liquid, breaks it up into tiny drops, and carries it out of the nozzle as a spray. Scent spray, paint spray guns, and carburettors all use the principle of the atomizer. | Scuderi says its design is able to achieve compression cylinder pressures equal to that of a conventional internal-combustion engine during the combustion cycle, thus creating large amounts of turbulence for improved atomization of the fuel/air mix. The atomization of society into a rabble of radical individualists has been followed by its real objective: the atomization of individuals themselves. A primary structure given a darkly glamorous makeover, it suggests less the rigid mathematical order of its model than an atomization of perception that's entirely in keeping with Altmejd's preference for visual dynamism, not to mention his magpie fascination with shiny things. |
