auricula

Species of primrose, a plant whose leaves are said to resemble a bear's ears. It grows wild in the Alps but is popular in cool-climate areas and often cultivated in gardens. (Primula auricula.)

Auricula

Genus of snails with long and spiral shells, which inhabit marshes and their borders. They are found in the warmer climates, where they feed on plants.

Fossil auriculae are found in the Jurassic system. Midas's ear A. midae is found in the East Indies.

Classification

Auricula belongs to the family Auriculidae and subclass Pulmonata, class Gastropoda, phylum Mollusca.
