autogenics

In alternative medicine, system developed in the 1900s by German physician Johannes Schultz, designed to facilitate mental control of biological and physiological functions generally considered to be involuntary. Effective in inducing relaxation, assisting healing processes, and relieving psychosomatic disorders, autogenics is regarded as a precursor of biofeedback.
