bézique

Card game believed to have originated in Spain. Brought to England 1861 it became very popular and in 1887 the Portland Club drew up a standardized set of rules for the popular variety Rubicon bézique. Each player has a pack of cards but all cards with a face value of 2–6 are taken out.
