bacillus

Genus of rod-shaped bacteria that occur everywhere in the soil and air. Some are responsible for diseases such as anthrax, or for causing food spoilage.

This organism can cause trench fever, endocarditis, bacillary angiomatosis, peliosis, and chronic bacteremia in infected humans (3).
Bacillary dysentery is manly caused by the bacteria of the Shigella group.
