bearberry

Any of a group of evergreen trailing shrubs belonging to the heath family, found in high and rocky places. Most bearberries are North American but Arctostaphylos uva-ursi is also found in Asia and Europe in northern mountainous regions. It has small pink flowers in spring, followed by red berries that are dry but edible. (Genus Arctostaphylos, family Ericaceae.)

Two other supplements are sometimes claimed to prevent UTIs: vitamin C and bearberry (uva ursi).
