Dicran, advocating the adaptation of the Hindu bhajan for Christian use, refers to "certain Catholics who felt the freedom to sing the names of Hindu gods in order to learn Indian classical music. A procession of Hindus, chanting bhajans, statues of Shiva, god of destruction, hoisted on their shoulders, had marched past the mosque and forced a pig into it. Tara Singh's description of the three categories of Sikhs in Canada -- "Modern Sikhs" who had abandoned the Khalsa discipline and were cutting their hair, "Religious Sikhs" who practiced the Khalsa discipline, and the 'White Sikhs" who followed Yogi Bhajan of 3HO (Happy, Holy, and Healthy Organization) -- raises an important question of "Who is a Sikh? |
