Both the tricuspid and bicuspid valves, molded from resin, are highly defined, and the marble base provides pre-eminent stability and 360-degree viewing. While normal aortic valves have three tissue leaflets to regulate the flow of blood in the heart, a bicuspid valve has only two leaflets to perform that function. It is therefore important to identify those women who do have a bicuspid valve and start them on prophylactic antibiotics prior to any surgical procedure. |
