Blue Laws

In American history, a collection of severe laws regarding behaviour and the keeping of the Sabbath. They were alleged to have been in force among the early colonists of New Haven and Connecticut, and some regulations were later found among the New Haven Statutes. The term ‘blue laws’ is still used colloquially in reference to local laws concerning Sunday amusements.
