blue shark

Species of shark with a blue back and white underside. It grows to a length of at least 7 m/23 ft and is found in all oceanic waters except the polar seas.

Classification

The blue shark Odontaspis glaucas belongs in the family Odontaspididae, order Lamniformes (typical sharks), subclass Elasmobranchii, class Chondrichthyes.

Dan Blanton, a member of the Fly Fishing Hall of Fame, has collected and updated 11 of his articles about fishing for salmon, white sea bass, striped bass, shad, largemouth bass and blue sharks.
When they mixed these six primers and tissue from each of 33 different shark species, the researchers unambiguously identified the target species: longfin mako, shortfin mako, porbeagle, dusky, silky, and blue sharks.
