boccia

Game similar to bowls, for disabled athletes, first admitted to the Paralympic Games in 1992. The competitors throw, kick, or use a device to propel leather balls as close as possible to a small white ball that acts as the jack (or target). Boccia is played indoors on a smooth flat surface. It is the only paralympic sport in which men and women compete together in all events.
