The bottlebrush Callistemon macroponctatus speckled yellow by its elongated stamens. It is the appearance of these elongated stamens, protruding beyond the petals, that led to this flowering shrub's common name.

Any of several trees or shrubs common in Australia, belonging to the myrtle family. They have cylindrical, composite flower heads in green, yellow, white, various shades of red, and violet. (Genus Callistemon, family Myrtaceae.)
