brazingMethod of joining two metals by melting an alloy or metal into the joint. It is similar to soldering (see solder) but takes place at a much higher temperature. Copper and silver alloys are widely used for brazing, at temperatures up to about 900°C/1,650°F. Where high precision is needed, as in space technology, nickel-based filters are used in the temperature range 1,000–1,200°C/1,832–2,192°F. How to thank TFD for its existence?
