breakeven analysis

Management accounting technique to determine the breakeven point by analysing fixed and variable costs in relation to the total revenue. This technique is used to determine the levels of activity required to generate a certain level of profit, and shows how fixed and variable costs affect profit levels. A breakeven chart is often used in breakeven analysis.
