breccia

Coarse-grained sedimentary rock, made up of broken fragments (clasts) of pre-existing rocks held together in a fine-grained matrix. It is similar to conglomerate but the fragments in breccia are jagged in shape.

The Proterzoic host sequence at Aldebaran is altered with rather intense silicification, extensive brecciation, multi-episodic colloform banded quartz veins (including some adularia), veinlet stockworks, hematite, pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite.
