brecciaCoarse-grained sedimentary rock, made up of broken fragments (clasts) of pre-existing rocks held together in a fine-grained matrix. It is similar to conglomerate but the fragments in breccia are jagged in shape. |

The Proterzoic host sequence at Aldebaran is altered with rather intense silicification, extensive brecciation, multi-episodic colloform banded quartz veins (including some adularia), veinlet stockworks, hematite, pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite. Significant epithermal veining and brecciation has been intersected in 4 of the drill holes, extending the strike length of the Bonza-Las Penas epithermal system to over 3km. Red Hill - large magnetic anomaly known to be caused by a mafic intrusive of the Mount Kare Igneous suite, with associated brecciation and gold mineralisation that is currently being artisanally worked by informal miners. |
