brocket

Name for a male European red deer in its second year, when it has short, straight, pointed antlers. Brocket deer, genus Mazama, include a number of species of small, shy, solitary deer found in Central and South America. They are up to 1.3 m/4 ft in body length and 65 cm/2 ft at the shoulder, and have similar small, straight antlers even when adult.

A new species of brocket Mazama bororo was discovered in Brazil in 1996.
