bulimiaEating disorder in which large amounts of food are consumed in a short time (‘binge’), usually followed by depression and self-criticism. The term is often used for bulimia nervosa, an emotional disorder in which eating is followed by deliberate vomiting and purging. This may be a chronic stage in anorexia nervosa.
