business plan competition

Competition run to find the best idea for a new business plan. Business plan competitions are popular in business schools where they are used as a means to create potentially valuable businesses, to confer prestige on the business school, and to attract the most talented students. The winners may receive cash and/or assistance with establishing their business venture. This type of competition became particularly prevalent during the Internet boom of the late 1990s.
