Camarillo

City in Ventura County, southwestern California, USA, 92 km/57 mi west-northwest of Los Angeles, on the Ventura Freeway; population (1990) 52,300. It is a commercial centre in the Pleasant Valley; a wide range of fruit, market-garden crops, nuts, and flowers are grown, processed, and shipped in the area. Camarillo has electronics and aerospace industries, and manufactures magnetic tape.

A state psychiatric facility, Camarillo State Hospital, is in the city, as is St John's Seminary College (1939).
