Capstone

Long-term US government project to develop a set of standards for publicly available cryptography as authorized by the Computer Security Act 1987. The initiative has four elements: a data encryption algorithm (Skipjack), a hash function, a key exchange protocol, and a digital signature algorithm (DSS). The project was declassified in 1997.
