carbonic acid

Weak, dibasic acid formed by dissolving carbon dioxide in water:

It forms two series of salts: carbonates and hydrogencarbonates. Fizzy drinks are made by dissolving carbon dioxide in water under pressure; soda water is a solution of carbonic acid.
