Aryl hydrocarbon receptor null mice develop cardiac hypertrophy and increased hypoxia-inducible factor 1alpha in the absence of cardiac hypoxia. Involvement of the serotonin 5-HT2B receptor in cardiac hypertrophy linked to sympathetic stimulation: control of interleukin-6, interleukin-1 beta, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha cytokine production by ventricular fibroblasts. [4,7] With hypertension, pressure overload can produce concentric cardiac hypertrophy in which increases in ventricular mass are out of proportion to increases in chamber volume. |
