Ritual Dances

Four dances for chorus and orchestra in Michael Tippett's opera The Midsummer Marriage: The Earth in Autumn, The Waters in Winter, The Air in Spring, Fire in Summer. Often heard as a concert work, it was first performed at Basel on 13 February 1953 – two years before its first production as an opera, at Covent Garden.
