Like most fungi from temperate zones, the edible chanterelle Cantharellus cibarius is looked for in autumn, being most likely to appear when a period of warm weather is accompanied by abundant rainfall. It has the colour and smell of apricots.

Edible fungus that is bright yellow and funnel-shaped. It grows in deciduous woodland. (Cantharellus cibarius, family Cantharellaceae.)
