engineering

The application of science to the design, construction, and maintenance of works, machinery, roads, railways, bridges, harbour installations, engines, ships, aircraft and airports, spacecraft and space stations, and the generation, transmission, and use of electrical power. The main divisions of engineering are aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, electronic, gas, marine, materials, mechanical, mining, production, radio, and structural.

In general, a chemical engineer is someone who applies and uses the principles of chemical engineering in any of the various practical applications, primarily with the study of the design, manufacture and operation of plant and machinery in industrial, chemical and related processes.
As well as promoting the advancement of both the science and practice of chemical engineering within the profession, IChemE aims to increase the public recognition of chemical engineering, both in terms of what chemical and process engineers do and the benefits that their work brings to society.
Bentham Science Publishers (Oak Park, IL), a producer of 92 science, technology and medical (STM) online and print journals, 200 open access journals as well as related book series, has launched a series of six new journals covering patent developments in six major industries, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, computer sciences and biomedical engineering.
