chicoryPlant native to Europe and West Asia, with large, usually blue, flowers. Its long taproot is used dried and roasted as a coffee substitute. What's more, much of the fiber in Weight Watchers comes not from whole grains, but from inulin, a carbohydrate that's typically isolated from chicory root. Inulin, which is also found in onions and chicory root, appears to be useful in preventing intestinal infections by stimulating the growth of healthy bifidobacteria in the intestinal tract. The product contains fruit concentrate, organic brown rice syrup, organic barley flour, soy fiber, oat flour and chicory root extract - not your usual fructose and corn syrup-based kid-die drink. |
