rejection

Immune response in the recipient of a tissue or organ transplant. If rejection does not respond to treatment, the donated tissue is destroyed. Immunosuppressive drugs are used to try and prevent rejection.

Chronic rejection occurs after six months post-transplant but the phenomenon is not fully understood.
