colonoscopy

Medical procedure involving the insertion of a colonoscope (fibre-optic viewing instrument) into the rectum, to detect abnormalities within the colon. Patients undergoing colonoscopy are given an enema to empty the bowel, before being sedated. Colonoscopies detect cancerous tumours and precancerous polyps.

The colonoscope is inserted into the anus and gently guided to the cecum, the first part of you digestive tract.
The application extended from Ogden's anus to her cecum, about 150 centimeters away, which is as far into the intestinal tract as a colonoscope can reach.
To perform a colonoscopy, the doctor uses a flexible tube with a light on the end called a colonoscope to view the entire colon.
