commedia

Tale or romance with a happy ending; the term is used in Italian literature. Unlike the term ‘comedy’ in English literature, it applies not only to drama (see commedia dell'arte) but also to other literary forms, such as Dante's epic poem The Divine Comedy/Divina Commedia (1307–21).
